Meet the Founders

Jayelin grew up around the sport of beach volleyball, constantly eager to learn more. She played at Cal Poly for 5 years, and competed on the 4s position as a freshman, and then moved up the ranks to the 1s position by her senior year, and graduated with a Psychology degree. Post graduation, she was an assistant coach at Boise State University and enjoyed working with the college athletes. Along the way, she pursued a credential in teaching yoga, and has been teaching at two studios in the Central Coast since 2024.

As the Director of Dig Deep, Jayelin is excited to continue building relationships with each player and help them become confident humans, learning shared values of work ethic, leadership, honesty, and teamwork.

Jayelin Lombard

Susie is from the Bay Area and began playing beach volleyball at 16. She fell in love with the sport from day one, and although she started later than many of her peers, she was determined to compete at the collegiate level. After being accepted to Cal Poly for academics, she earned a spot as a walk-on on the beach volleyball team her freshman year. During her collegiate career, she was part of two Big West Championship teams.

Susie graduated from Cal Poly in December 2023 and co-founded Dig Deep Beach Volleyball in 2024. In August 2026, she began teaching elementary school full-time and transitioned out of her ownership role at Dig Deep. Although her role has shifted from coaching on the sand to teaching in the classroom, she remains passionate about investing in the next generation of young people.
